Life at YSU

2022 marked the year of many prominent changes that were going to happen in my life. My time in high school was over, my last year with the Titanium Titans was reaching its end, and I would soon be entering into my first year of college. It would be a monumental change to overcome, but I ended up doing it in stride.

My first year of college at Youngstown State University had gone much better than I had hoped. I was able to make many connections with my peers and those who I was living with at the time in a dorm. I was able to participate in classes where I felt I could put my passion to use. I even got to partake in a Solidworks class, where I got to learn about the intricacies of the program and how I could approach modeling 3D objects better. Throughout the first year, I got to learn about the Honors College, which is a program I am a part of. This program allows students to push themselves further with their studies and give back to the community. I was part of a community outreach group that did work in St. Patrick’s Church in Youngstown, Ohio. Our goal was to build worm composts for the community garden and maintain sufficient upkeep of the garden itself.

My second year of college was a little more conservative for a lack of a better word. I was still able to continue my studies and volunteerism, but it was also a year that saw me shifting my focus and challenging my ego. I thought I was able to skirt by through doing less than I should to prepare myself, but one of my classes showed me that I had to get my priorities straight and let some things go.

My third year has been excellent as I have started to better myself in terms of working in a team and conversating with others. I am getting my certifications in operating industrial robots and in CNC machining. The positive habits I have developed from my learning experiences in my second year have taught me much, and it has made my learning more rewarding.

Practical Applications

Classes I've partaken in, such as a Fluid Mechanics Lab shown here, have given me excellent real world experiences in certain fields.
